The 32-year-old sexy teacher, former Miss UK runner- up Joanne Salley, left class in tears when goggle-eyed schoolboys began passing the snaps around. She has gone into hiding.
They circulated so fast that nearly all the school’s 825 male students, its teachers and even its kitchen staff saw them at the £29,670-a-year school – famous for its traditional straw boater uniform.
One teenager said: “The pictures are wicked. She’s looking properly fit in them.
“They went around like wildfire. Everyone was texting or bluetoothing them. She must be the most popular teacher in Harrow’s history.”
The photos even made it as far as posh Merchant Taylors’ public school in Hertfordshire, where Joanne used to teach.
The pictures, believed to have been taken in the arts rooms of the school, were taken by fellow Harrow art teacher Fiona Corthine – a professional photographer – who accidentally left them on a memory stick in the photography laboratory and the memory stick was later found by a pupil.
In the pictures, Joanne, who once appeared in an anti-breast cancer campaign, posed provocatively in just a tight pair of jeans. She is pictured in one shot with a boob exposed and in another arching her back in a chair. In another shot she is draped over a bookcase crammed with tomes on art history. Her tousled brunette hair reached down to the small of her tanned back. In another moody image, she stared straight at the camera.
Headmaster Barnaby Lenon stood by his employee, saying: “Joanne Salley is a long-standing and successful art teacher at Harrow who has in the past been a model.
“Photographs of her modelling were taken by a professional photographer who also teaches at the school. The pictures were stolen without the agreement of the photographer, who holds the copyright. The matter is being investigated.”
“Joanne was understandably very upset.”
Harrow staff have demanded that all pupils delete the photos from their iPhones and Blackberries. Any pupil caught circulating them has been threatened with immediate suspension.
Pupils who forwarded these pictures to the Mail did so after censoring them with modesty boxes.
Pupils have been told Miss Salley, a former Cambridge University student, fears her reputation has been so damaged, she will never teach again.
‘She was already the subject of hundreds of schoolboy crushes so naturally the photos went round the school like wildfire’, said a source.
This is not the first time Miss Salley has attracted unwanted attention to the school. She revealed in 2006 that she had received advances from one of the pupils.
‘One of the boys kept sending me love letters…another pupil used to turn up to my classes even though I didn’t teach him,’ she said.
Harrow was founded in 1572 under a Royal Charter sanctioned by Elizabeth I.
Two kings and seven prime ministers attended the school, including Winston Churchill and Robert Peel.
Joanne, born 1977 in Dungannon, was educated at the Royal School Dungannon and graduated from Cambridge University. She trained in ballet for fifteen years.
Prior to her teaching career, she co-hosted The Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughan on Channel Four and also starred in an advert for the Peugeot 106.
Salley won the Miss Northern Ireland title in 1998, and came runner-up in the Miss United Kingdom pageant. This led to her following a dual-career, as both a teacher and a television reporter/presenter.
Joanne taught at Harrow for several years, but took a career break a few years ago to work for Comic Relief does Fame Academy and as a researcher for the BBC’s Hard Sell. She then joined Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, before returning to Harrow in 2010.
Joanne dated A Question of Sport captain and World Cup-winning rugby hero Matt Dawson for six years before the couple split in 2008. As a couple, they had appeared in Hello! magazine (issue no. 794), and lived in London.
Salley plays polo. She has raised funds for chairty by running the New York Marathon, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and has visited the site of the world’s highest active volcano in Ecuador where she helped build a school for an isolated community. She has also worked for charities such as Breast cancer, Mencap and Asthma UK.
